Four years after his professional debut with the San Francisco Opera, Anthony Mordechai Tzvi Russell chose to devote himself to the music of Sidor Belarsky (1898-1975) one of the 20th century's most prolific performers of khazones, Hassidic music and Yiddish kunstlider (art song). This initial exploration has inspired his journey through the rich and vibrant world of Ashkenazi Jewish music-making and beyond:
